David Hundeyin, a contentious investigative journalist, published a tell-all essay in which he criticized the BBC for serving as a “career graveyard.”

He chronicles accounts from former staff of the organization. He emphasized that “previously, under strict instruction from the organization, they would never dare to speak publicly about their experiences – even after leaving the BBC. Now, however, having witnessed the near-death of their colleague, they were finally ready to do away with their silence.”

The near-death experience in question was in reference to the suicide attempt of Ogechi Obidiebube, whose “sex for grades” story was allegedly hijacked by Kiki Mordi, who is now internationally recognized for it.

Although David Hundeyin had already written a report about these incidents, he doubled down with additional proof for this expose.

In the article, he provided three accounts from BBC employees in Dakar, Abuja, and Lagos. These accounts were supported by photographic and video evidence, emails, direct messages, and chats, making some of his claims quite impossible to refute.

After publishing the story, he launched into a tirade on Twitter against Kiki’s friends for purportedly defending her, despite being aware of her hijacking Oge’s story.

David is admired for his investigative writing but is also frequently attacked and charged with sensationalism. His work makes one thing quite clear: there is plenty of evidence. Sadly, some flaws are too blatant and simple for his opponents and detractors to miss. Not surprisingly, they never miss the opportunity to do so. But he always has a ready response to most of their criticisms, especially on Twitter.

It is also possible to question his use of Twitter given the cult-like following he has amassed and the possibility that this influence has some bearing on his brazenness. However, his social media activity makes no difference to the facts, and as long as he only shares the truth, nobody can criticize that.
