It was a case of double jeopardy for a Nigerian Immigration service officer as he was abducted by gunmen from his house in Ikorodu, Lagos, merely four days after he’d been released from an earlier abduction.

The officer,  Peter Ofulue according to THE PUNCH had been abducted while getting ready for church on the 10th of July.

Ofulue was previously abducted on the 4th of July but was released 2 days later on the 6th by which time he’d been relieved of all his money and his phones. The abductors had demanded a ransom payment of N30m which the family were unable to raise before his release.

He has now been abducted again. The NIS National Public Relations Officer, Ekpedeme King stated that they were working with the police to find a resolution to the matter.

He said on the matter, “As you know that the immigration service and the police are both under the Ministry of Interior, we have a good synergy on this matter. The case is with the police and they are investigating. We have been told that the gunmen have reached out to the family and they are demanding a ransom.”

According to the PUNCH, a source said that Ofulue was not the only victim of the day as three other people were abducted on the same day.

“The officer was preparing to go for a thanksgiving service last Sunday when the
gunmen stormed his compound. He was abducted along with three other persons in the
area.

“His family members were in Delta State for an event when the gunmen struck. This is the
second time they would come for him. The gunmen were four in number.” said the neighbour.

A source in the police force was reported to have said that the abductors were working in concert with people who lived in the area and that those abducted again were picked up because their ransom demands were not met.
