Equities Lose 0.17% Despite Fresh Demand

The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange shed gains made by mid-day to end in the red, despite fresh demand recorded in the afternoon session. It depreciated by 0.17% to close at 29,403 basis points. Market Capitalization currently stands at N10.11 trillion.

The total value of transactions depreciated by 27.82%, a sharp contrast to the increase of 114.14% recorded yesterday. The total volume of shares traded also depreciated by 33.38% as against an increase of 102.72% recorded yesterday. The number of deals recorded however increased by 36.93% after losing 25.05% yesterday as 4,650 deals were closed today.

Despite trading ending on a bearish note today, the NSE30 and the Banking Index were the only Indexes to close in the red.

The top 5 five most actively traded stock on the exchange today were UBA, ZENITHBANK, FBNH, TRANSCORP and ACCESS, with a combined total of 195 million shares traded.

Market breadth closed negative as NESTLE led 23 Gainers against 25 Losers led by CADBURY.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -15.16%.
