Jonathan Is Not The Father Of The Nation – Dino Melaye

Yesterday some Nigerians staged a fresh protest calling on the government to rescue the over 200 Chibok girls after six months of abductions.

The protesters, under the aegis of Citizens Arise Movement of Nigeria (CAMN) led by Dino Melaye converged at the Eagles Square in Abuja said the fresh protest became necessary following the alleged insensitivity of the Federal Government to the plight of the over 200 Chibok girls.

The protesters numbering about 200 moved round the Federal Secretariat, chanting various anti-government songs to denounce the state of affairs in the country.

Coordinator of the group, Dino Melaye condemned President Goodluck Jonathan’s speech on the occasion of the nation’s 54th Independence, stressing that apart from the fact that it was not inspiring, his alleged reluctance to speak on the fate of the girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists was unacceptable.

He said the constitution conferred on president the status of a “father and as such, he should be concerned about the plight and welfare of the people in line with section 14 of the 1999 Constitution.”

The former House of Representatives member also castigated the president for allegedly not doing enough to fight corruption, insisting that almost all his ministers’ are neck-deep in sleaze.

He said: “I want to say that the president’s speech this morning (yesterday) is not different from the ones he has been giving before. It has become a normal tradition.

Unfortunately, the President addressed the nation this morning (yesterday), the 54th birthday of Nigeria and he did not say anything about the missing Chibok girls. This is calamitous and painful. He is not the father of the nation because no father will have missing children, 219 of them and would carry on as if nothing is amiss.”
