Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State has urged Nigerians to put aside their differences and work closely to build a united, peaceful, and free country.

This is contained in his message issued by his spokesman, Malam Imam Imam, in Sokoto on Sunday to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Maulud.

Tambuwal further enjoined Nigerians to imbibe the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and strive to live with one another in peace and harmony.

”Same way the birth of the Prophet in Mecca ushered in a new dawn for humanity, Nigerians should view the occasion of this year’s Maulud Nabiyyi as an opportunity for a new beginning.

”As a country, we will make progress towards the realisation of our shared vision of a strong, united and prosperous nation if our people imbibe the Prophet’s lessons.

”They include peace, tolerance, honesty, selflessness, sincerity, justice, equity and peaceful co-existence,” the governor added.

While rejoicing with Nigerians, especially the Muslim faithful, on the occasion of Eid-el-Maulud, Tambuwal assured the people of Sokoto of his determination to promote religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among all citizens.

He said his administration had made the provision of social amenities a top priority.

He added that his administration would continue with its policies toward ensuring rapid development of all sectors of the state.( NAN)
