Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe was arrested by Police at the Olaiya Junction area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Reports stipulate that the Police were said to have attracted by a police cap which was placed on the dashboard of the car. They also found her brother suspicious as they said he dressed like a yahoo boy.
The Police were also less than pleased with the attitude of the actress who confronted them and insulted them. This angered them and they seized her phone.
The arrest caused quite a stir and drew a large crowd some of who begged the police to return the actress’ phone and others who actually wanted to beat the policemen.
The policemen had to call for reinforcements to prevent the crowd from attacking them.
An eyewitness, who identified himself as Adedeji told the Punch, “When the policemen got to the junction, they went to the parked car and ordered the driver to roll down the window of the car because it was tinted and they could not identify those in the car.
“Immediately the driver rolled the glasses down Mercy Aigbe rushed out of the car to confront the policemen. They eventually took her and the boy who drove away.”
The actress’ brother was pushed into the back of the patrol van, she was allowed to remain in her car which was driven away by a policeman.
