In the wake of the release of a music video by his signee, Logos Olori, DMW label boss, Davido is currently facing intense criticism from some internet users who accuse the video of disrespecting Islamic beliefs and practices.

While some individuals are urging Davido to take the video down and apologize, others are expressing their concern over what they perceive as a desecration of sacred elements.

The controversial music video in question features Logos Olori’s new song titled “Jayelo.”

However, it’s essential to clarify that the song is solely Logos Olori’s creation and not Davido’s.

Nonetheless, some netizens have directed their anger towards Davido, possibly assuming he had a hand in the production, given his status as Jayelo’s mentor and label boss.

The core point of contention arises from a scene in the video where some supposed Islamic faithful are seen on a prayer mat in front of a building and the artist imitated the Muslim style of praying while perched on the roof of the building.

To many Muslims, prayer mats hold deep religious significance as they symbolize the sacred act of Salah, a divine connection with the Almighty. As such, any action that could be interpreted as disrespectful or mocking of this holy practice is considered highly offensive.

In a social media post addressing Davido, one user wrote, “Dear Davido, for the benefit of doubt, we will assume you do not know that Muslims hold the obligatory prayers sacred, and it’s totally prohibited to joke or play with the prayers. Please kindly take it down and apologize to all Muslims for this grave mistake.

Another commenter expressed their distress, stating, “This video deeply troubles me! Salah is sacred, a divine connection with the Almighty. Prayer mats and mosques symbolize this holy communion. Watching people dance to any music on them is disrespectful, a desecration, & disregard for our beliefs. Bet this is your intention, to gain traction for this terrible noise! You’ll get yours, it’s coming.

Despite the outrage on social media, it is crucial to clarify that Davido is not directly responsible for the content of the music video. As Jayelo’s label boss, he may offer guidance and support, but the artistic direction and content of Jayelo’s work lie solely in the hands of the artist himself.
