My Rivals Are Trying To Buy EPL Title- Mourinho

1 Min Read

Jose Mourinho has taken a dig at Chelsea’s Premier League rivals, saying that they are trying to “buy the title”.

It has been a summer of big spending so far for the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, with United outlaying nearly £70m and Liverpool spending close to £75m.

Premier League champions have brought in Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco and goalkeeper Asmir Begovic from Stoke City, but have not made any other major purchases this summer.

The Blues were accused of buying success when Roman Abramovich bought the club in 2003, but Mourinho now says that it’s a model that everyone else is using.

“In the beginning of Mr Abramovich coming to Chelsea, Chelsea was buying the title,” he said after the Blues pre-season win over PSG in America last night.

“Now, they are buying the title. All of them, they are buying the title.

“It is up to us to be strong and to fight them and, obviously, to try and win it again, even without the big investments.”
