NSE ASI Gains 0.53% as MPC Reduces CRR to 25%

The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange gained 0.53% today, bouncing back from 2-day losses. This occurred on the back of key recommendations made by the Monetary Policy Committee after its meeting today, including reducing CRR for commercial banks by 600 basis points to 25%. The primary index added 160.2 basis points to end the day at 30,426.10 basis points. Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N10.45 trillion.

The total number of deals recorded on the floor increased by 3.36% after reducing by 4.10% yesterday, while the total volume of shares traded on the floor increased by 18.24% against a reduction of 47.35% recorded yesterday and the total value of transactions appreciated by 101.51% as against a depreciation of 55.68% yesterday.

The top five most actively traded shares on the exchange today were UBA, GUARANTY, ZENITHBANK, FBNH and TRANSCORP led the activity chart with a combined total of 130 million shares.

Market breadth closed at par as SEPLAT for the third session in a row led 19 Gainers against 19 Losers led by STANBIC.

Year-To-Date currently stands at -12.21%.
