President Muhammadu Buhari has assured #ChibokGirls campaigners that the federal government is doing everything within its power to rescue the girls.

This is contained in a response by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, to a question by leading #ChibokGirls campaigner and former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili on Tuesday evening.

Ezekwesili had sent a tweet to Adesina requesting information about the latest in federal government’s efforts to free the girls.

In response, Adesina said: “I am sure we are getting the very best (from the president). The President is very considered about the Chibok girls.”

According to Adesina quoting President Buhari “We are talking with Boko Haram over Chibok girls. But we need to ensure they are genuine leaders, then we negotiate.”

Ezekwesili expressed the campaigners’ gratitude to the President, stating “It is assuring to know that the FG is getting the most CREDIBLE INTELLIGENCE on OUR Girls.”

It will be recalled that 276 girls were on April 15, 2014, abducted by Boko Haram members from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, and are yet to be found.
