Profit Taking Leads to 1.60% All Share Index Loss

Stocks shed N285.96billion as profit taking extended to two days as the All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange dipped by 1.60% today. The Index closed at 29,393.77 basis points as opposed to the 29,870.86 basis points recorded at the close of business yesterday. Market Capitalization closed at N10.10 trillion.

The total value of transactions declined by 36.07% as against a 39.44% loss recorded yesterday. The total volume of shares traded also declined by 37.75% as against a decline of 53.14% recorded yesterday as a total of 273,676,573 shares were traded today. The number of deals recorded declined by 14.09% as against a reduction by 28.36% down from 4,345 deals recorded yesterday, as 3,733 deals were recorded today.

The top five most actively traded stock for today were ZENITHBANK, UBA, ACCESS, AFRIPUD and WAPIC, with a combined total of 166 million shares traded.

Market breadth closed in the negative as STANBIC led 24 Gainers against 23 Losers led by NESTLE.

Year-To-Date stands at -15.19%.
