A suspected armed robber fell for his own charm during a robbery operation in Lagos.

The suspect, identified as Nnamdi Onu is a member of a four man gang and met with his waterloo after the charm he uses on his victims hit his body, causing him to faint in Anthony Village area of Lagos state.

The state Police Command noted that Onu specialised in dispossessing his victims of their cash and other valuables along Anthony Bus stop.

Prior to the backfired charm, Onu was reported to have dispossessed a lady of her bag, then chased by a mob who caught up with him. According to reports, he produced the charm which he aimed at  anybody who came near him with but was unlucky to have been the victim of his own weapon, which caused him to fall to the ground and faint.

Onu was reportedly arrested on the spot.

During interrogation, he said: “I was lured into morning raids by my friend, Wasiu. I used to be a private guard at a site in Ogun State. The charm was meant for protection, in case of any attack by intruders. If used on anyone, the person will faint but won’t die.

There are some that can cause an opponent to run mad, but I decided to use this because I did not want anybody’s blood to be on my head. Wasiu only invited me to come to Anthony Bus Stop, but he did not tell me he was going for an operation.”

He continued: “When I saw them snatching bags from female victims in particular, I could not turn back because I was afraid he could harm me. I have brought shame to my father, who has already made arrangement for me to start apprenticeship in fashion designing by Monday (today).

I could not conclude my secondary education due to the demise of my mother, who was solely responsible for my education.”
