A German reporter has challenged the Nigerian Presidency and media over what he described as misinformation of the Nigerian masses about the president’s moves in Germany as relating to agreements reached with the German government.

Bashir Ahmad, the Personal Assistant to the president, Muhammadu Buhari on New Media had taken to his social media page to report that the German Government will earmark $18 billion for Lake Chad region area and $50 billion for the overall areas.

He tweeted: “Germany will earmark $18 billion for Lake Chad region area and $50 billion for the overall areas – German Chancellor, Angela Merkel”

In reaction to the false news, German reporter, Dominic Johnson, the Foreign Editor & Africa Editor of German newspaper TAZ (die tageszeitung) in Berlin called the news source, Bashir Ahmad and media agencies reporting the story out.

He tweeted: @thecableng Please #Nigeria media, stop misreporting #Buhari in Germany. Merkel pledged 18 MILLION, not BILLION, and it’s humanitarian aid.
