Why we won’t engage in hasty burial – Bamise Ayanwole’s family

The family of Bamise Ayanwole, the 22-year-old lady allegedly killed when she boarded a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle in the Lekki area of Lagos recently, says it will not hastily bury the deceased.

Bamise’s older siblings, James Joel and Ayanwola Oluwamilola Titilayo, accompanied by other family members stated this when they jointly addressed the media at CDHR’s office, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja on Tuesday.

According to the family, a hasty burial could jeopardise ongoing investigations to unravel those involved and the motives for the killing.

The family said that the Lagos State Government was complicit in their daughter’s death, noting that a video conversation that occurred moments before her killing implicated the bus driver and proved their BRT vehicles were no longer safe for commuters.

Titilayo said, “My sister died in agony, her private part was removed before her agonising death and was thrown out of the bus on the motion. We suspect foul play and we will not engage in hasty burial.

“The Lagos State Government should be held responsible for the death of my sister.”
