Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi has scaled his ministerial screening exercise on the floor of the National Senate with seemingly flying colours

Senate Majority leader, Aliyu Ndume (APC, Borno) said there was no need to question Amaechi and that he should simply bow and go as a former Governor. However this led to a mild argument among the Senators and it was settled that he would indeed be posed with questions.

Amaechi was asked questions by Senators belonging to both Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress senators.

Asked about corruption and the allegations against him by the white paper submitted to the Senate by the Rivers State government. Amaechi said it would be difficult to find another Nigerian that hates corruption like him. He also claimed never to have taken a bribe in his life.

Further probed on the definition of corruption by Senator Shehu Sani (APC,Kaduna), Amaechi said corruption was difficult to define.

Amaechi said if he is elected to be Minister of Niger Delta he would complete the East West road due to the strategic economic importance of the road to Nigeria.

He said that he fell out with PResident Jonathan because he turned the Governor’s Forum to a union and that he was a student union leader.

Amaechi declared he was born to test his rights and fight for his rights.
