The 17 Southern governors are awaiting President Muhammadu Buhari’s return from his four-day trip to Paris, France to meet him over the outcome of last Tuesday’s meeting.
The aim of the meeting, it was learnt, was for the governors to present their resolutions personally to the president.
Recall that the governors met in Asaba, Delta State, and came out with a 12-point resolution that has been dubbed the Asaba Declaration.
Some of the resolutions included a total ban on open grazing in the South, restructuring of the Nigerian federation, convocation of a national conference to address agitations in the region, among others.

The Chairman of the Forum and Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu had confirmed that the governors would meet with the President over the resolutions.
“Getting a presidential buy-in might be some cause for concern, but 17 governors from the south… I believe that whatever we have said should be given some weight, it must be something that has to be considered. That means the presidency will look at it and consider it. The number is large. It is more or less like half of us,” Akeredolu had told Arise News on Wednesday.
The Punch quoted a source within the Southern Governors Forum (SGF) as confirming that the meeting would hold but time had not been decided.
The President jetted out of Abuja and arrived Paris, France on Sunday to attend the African Finance Summit.
He is expected back in the country later this week.
