Former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has expressed his support for the governorship campaign of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state.

The former military ruler, in an apparent move to lend his support to the party’s efforts at stopping the surging wind of opposition in the state, made his presence felt at the PDP rallies in Zone B of the state, represented by his first son, Mohammed, and his daughter, Halima.

The presence of the retired General’s children was said to have given more credence to the PDP campaigner and boosted the fortunes of the party at next month’s elections.

Mohammed and Halima, who are rarely seen at political functions, were visibly present at the campaign of Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko at Kampala, in Bosso local government area of the state, on Monday and also yesterday in Sarkin Pawa of Munya local government area.

Mohammed was named as the Director of the Finance Committee of the governorship campaign council.

His serving in the campaign team has put paid to speculations that the former ruler was irked with the PDP in the state.
