Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has described former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode as “Judas of Oduduwa” following his Thursday defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

On multiple occasions, Fani-Kayode had vowed never to rejoin the APC.

In a 2018 tweet, the ex-minister said, “I am not surprised that @MObanikoro and @iyiomisore have got their passports back from the EFCC and are now in America.

“I do not blame them for joining the ruling party to avoid persecution. Some are strong whilst others are weak.

“I would rather die than join APC or bow to Buhari.”

In a series of tweets on December 15, 2019, Fani-Kayode wrote, “The suggestion that l joined the APC is false and insulting. Those that are peddling this fake news should bury their heads in shame.

“With what we have witnessed, l would rather die than join a filthy, rat-infested sinking ship like the Almajiri Peoples Congress (APC).

“I am committed to opposing the APC and those that are in their ranks for the rest of my natural life and I will NEVER join them no matter what! They are nothing but darkness whilst l stand for the light of God and truth: there can be NO fellowship between light and darkness.”

However, on Thursday, Fani-Kayode said he was only putting Nigeria first when he was led to the Presidential Villa, Abuja by APC Caretaker Chairman, Mai Mala-Buni and Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle to inform President Buhari of his defection to the party.

In a Facebook post, Sheikh Gumi wrote, “I have for long, neglected the rantings of the Judas of Oduduwa attacking me knowing fully well that he is fake and a traitor.

“Time has now caught up with him and thanks to Allah, all his vituperations are cast in the dustbin of merciless history.

“It is him now, one wonders which of the seven circles of hell this duper will settle if he doesn’t repent.”
