President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday debunked insinuations that he approved the defection of the former minister of information, Labaran Maku, to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The President stated this yesterday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, while continuing his nationwide campaign towards the February 14, 2015presidential elections.
It would be recalled that the former minister had allegedly informed his supporters that he had the approval of the President to move into another party to actualize his ambition where he is seeking to become the next governor of the state.
“I was told that former minister of Information said I asked him to join another party. You know I cannot play games with my party. PDP is my party and anybody that wants to help us should come back to PDP and work for PDP, so that the party would have victory in Nasarawa State,” he said.
Senate President David Mark, however, urged Maku to return to the ruling party should he want to make any meaningful impact in the state’s politics. Mark also maintained that the former Information minister should come to apologise to the party and work for his party.
Said he: “How can you be in APGA and be campaigning for another political party? Return to PDP with apologies, if you want to work for Mr. President.”
At the Lafia rally, President Jonathan assured Nigerians that he would turn farmers to millionaires through improved support for farmers, if re-elected. He also promised to complete the Doma Dam in the state.
