Man, 24, remanded in prison for allegedly causing hurt

A Sokoto Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded Aliyu Yaro in prison for inflicting injuries on Saratu Abdullahi.

The Chief Magistrate, Nurradeen Bello, said that remand of Yaro would enable the police to conclude its investigation in the case.

Yaro, 24, who resides at Hubbare Area of Sokoto, pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of criminal force, assault and causing hurt.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Samuel Sule, told the court that the case was reported at Marina Police Station by the victim on May 20.

Sule said that the accused, who led a seven-man-gang, accosted the complainant at Kwannawa area of the state, using a big stick to cause serious injury on her left hand.

He said that the accused forcefully collected her three cell phones, microphones and battery.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 265 and 246 of the Penal Code.

The magistrate adjourned the case until July 21 for mention. (NAN)
