I Support APC for What the Party Stands For – David-West

Former minister of Petroleum, Professor Tam David-West has stated that although he does not belong to any political party, he has a soft spot for the APC due to what the party and its members stand for, adding that he supports causes and people, and not political parties.

He also declared that Nigeria has failed as a state following the inability of the government to protect the lives and property of its citizens as provided in the constitution.

West made the declaration yesterday while speaking at an international press conference organised by the APC in the state, to call the attention of the international community to the arrest, intimidation, detention, and killing of their members and supporters in the state, by agents of the opposition and security operatives.

According to the professor of virology “I don’t belong to any political party; I have not carried any political party card before, but my heart is for APC. I support causes and people. I supported Governor Amaechi when he was in PDP. I started supporting him without even knowing him, because I support his cause. When some of his party members deserted him, I was still supporting him. So that same support I have carried to APC because of what APC stands for.

“I stand for a government that knows that 19 is greater than 16. I stand for a party of people of discipline, both in words and character. My support for APC is extended to the next governor of Rivers State, Dr. Dakuku Peterside. No matter the intimidation, no matter the carnage, God is on our side. I stand for Rivers State, I stand for Nigeria; God is on our side.”

“We have a failed state in Nigeria; Nigeria has failed. The constitution is clear; government should protect lives and property of the citizenry. If government cannot protect lives of citizens, it is worth the name and so it has no business being there again for a seconds,” he said.
